Our story

Hemlock & Home didn’t start as a business.

It started as a need.

A need for things to feel quieter. Softer. More manageable.

For a long time, home didn’t always feel calm — even when it looked “fine” from the outside.  
The noise, the clutter, the constant mental load… it builds in ways that are hard to explain, especially if you’re someone who feels everything deeply.

Cleaning didn’t help.  
If anything, it made it worse.

Harsh smells. Overpowering scents. Bright chemicals.  
The kind that linger too long, sit heavy in the air, and make a space feel louder instead of calmer.

For those of us who are neurodivergent, or sensitive to scent and environment, that kind of “clean” can be overwhelming — even unbearable.

And then there’s the other side of it.

Not knowing what’s actually in the products you’re using.  
Spraying things into your home without being able to pronounce half the ingredients.  
Worrying about paws on the floor, little hands on surfaces, and what that exposure really means.

It didn’t feel good. It didn’t feel safe. And it definitely didn’t feel calm.

So we started small.

One blend. One bottle. One moment of trying to make a space feel better instead of just look better.

Something softer.  
Something slower.  
Something that didn’t demand energy we didn’t have.

And it worked.

Not in a dramatic, life-changing way — but in small, repeatable moments.  
A room felt lighter.  
The air felt easier to sit in.  
Things felt… doable again.

That’s what Hemlock & Home is built on.

Not perfection. Not productivity. Not aesthetic pressure.

Just the idea that your environment should support you — not fight you.

Every product is made in small batches, with carefully chosen ingredients and scent profiles designed to feel grounding, not aggressive.  
Subtle, not sharp. Present, not overpowering.

And because comfort shouldn’t be limited to one moment, our scent profiles are designed to exist across a range of products — so once you find a scent that feels safe, you can carry it throughout your home, consistently and gently.

Because you should know what you’re bringing into your home.  
And you should feel safe using it — around yourself, your space, your pets, and your family.

Because for a lot of us, especially those who are neurodivergent, that’s not a luxury.

It’s essential.
